A Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and a Great Party Open the Pan American Academy Charter School Annex
The Pan American Academy Charter School Annex is officially OPEN! On August 31st we were fortunate to be in attendance for the ribbon cutting and official opening of this great new space. The brand new gymatorium, music room, and technology classroom/maker space are going to be very popular additions to the school for sure!
The Pan American Academy Charter School is a project which we take great pride in. The school promotes critical thinking, cultural awareness, multi-culturalism, and bilingualism in a thriving community that is home to Philadelphia’s largest concentration of Latinos. With 27 classrooms, a computer lab, a science lab, and an art studio, the school is well equipped for the various programs that are part of its evolving curriculum. With the new Annex, the school is positioned to grow and now has even more amenities for the students to enjoy.
The school is located in the Trujillo Center, which is also the home of Harcum College at Congreso. On any given school day, the center serves the educational needs of more than 1000 kindergarten through adult-age students. Providing opportunities and empowering members of the community of all ages to reach their academic and social potential are the driving principals behind this important institution. In addition, students have access to health care services such as screenings and referrals to outside health care partners that they might have had to seek elsewhere if they were not provided by the school.
Other features of the 60,000 square foot facility include a 300-seat cafetorium with a small commercial kitchen, a state-of-the-art instructional media center, and administrative offices for Congreso and Harcum College. Outside, there are two play areas- one for older students, with basketball and volleyball courts, and another that has a play area for younger students. The new Annex building will add a new dimension to the recreation space, something that was lacking until now. We are proud to be a part of this project and glad that we can provide such welcome additions to an already great facility.
