The brand new Esperanza Academy Charter School Elementary School, which PZS Architect designed, is now open at 201 Hunting Park Avenue. This new 70,000 sf facility is the culmination of an expansion project spanning several years. It is situated just down the street from the main Esperanza campus, which also includes the Esperanza Academy middle and high school buildings. Esperanza Academy has been providing a high-quality education in Philadelphia’s Hunting Park community since 2000, when it first opened as a four-year high school by Esperanza, as part of its mission to strengthen the Hispanic community and all who live here. PZS has been with Esperanza every step of the way, and this new school is an important project that we are all proud of.
Megan Lopez, a member of the school board and parent of a rising third grader at Esperanza Academy, shares what this new building means for her family and the community:
“This expansion will allow Esperanza Academy to reach many more families and help every student build themselves up to become great pillars of our society and community. As an Esperanza Academy mom myself, I am very excited for my daughter to take advantage of all the opportunities that will now be available with the expansion of the elementary school. I am so grateful to all the staff here who show up every day and provide not only my daughter but all of our students with an exceptional education. To finally have a space our students can call their own is something to be proud of, and I’m glad we’re here to witness all the great achievements our Esperanza family has accomplished.”
