Thomas Holme Elementary School

Located on 9125 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA the new Thomas Holme Elementary School is located on the site of the former school which has been demolished. The new, $88 million, state-of-the-art 141,000-square-foot school features modern learning spaces, including a dance studio, music rooms, a flexible, light-bathed gymnatorium, and interactive media centers. A unique aspect of the project was the direct involvement of students, who helped design features like the building’s facade, playground, and outdoor classrooms.

PZS is the Associate Architect on this project, which was designed in collaboration with BHA. The school will accommodate up to 1200 students and includes an abundance of natural light, vibrant color palettes, and finishes that will inspire creativity. Flexible, multi-use classrooms, a gymnatorium, maker-spaces, and a new playground that will enrich the community and student experience.
